The Indian Army on Monday foiled an infiltration attempt at the India-Pakistan border in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, in their attempt they killed 2 terrorists.

In a tweet, the Army said it undertook an anti-infiltration operation in the Nowshera sector of the border district on Sunday night in which two terrorists were killed and a cache of arms and ammunition seized, including AK-47 rifles.

Search Operation Is In Full Swing In J&K

A big search operation is in full swing in the area as the forces believe that a few more terrorists might have been hit during the clash. The area was lit up and closely monitored before starting the search, officials said.

Terrorists Must Have Been Hit

A massive search operation is underway in the area as the forces believe that a few more terrorists might have been hit during the clash. The area was lit up and closely monitored before starting the search, according to officials.

This incident comes days after a gunfight between security forces and terrorists in the same district. On September 3, terrorists fired at the Army during a search but then escaped. No one was injured in that incident.

Rajouri Recorded An Encounter Previously

Another encounter took place in Rajouri in the last week of August, in which the Army targeted a suspected terrorist hideout at the Lathi area. In July, a soldier was injured because of the attack by terrorists at the security post in the Gundha area within the same district.

These recent incidents and bids come ahead of the Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir slated for three phases on September 18, September 25, and October 1. The results are expected on October 4.
