It is reported that US President Joe Biden has spent extensive time off the White House premises, where he reportedly has dedicated almost 40% of his presidency out of Washington, as noted by RNC Research, a Republican platform.
The Republicans also earlier called out Biden’s time off last year by pointing at his days on vacation.
White House Response
The White House has pushed back, citing that Biden is still working as president when on vacation and that time off does not deter him from his work. According to RNC Research, Biden has taken 532 days of vacation since being in office-just about 40 percent of his presidency thus far.
Joe Biden Time Off Compared To Average Worker
According to the report, the vacation time taken by President Joe Biden in recent years equates to 48 years of vacation time for an average American.
Compared to the average, a full-time worker in the United States usually receives 10 to 14 days of paid vacation annually. With a 40-year career, one would accrue a full year of vacation time. With a little more than three years as president, Biden’s time off is the sum that an average worker would accumulate in slightly over 50 years.
In the twilight of his years in office, President Biden has spent the last two weeks at Rehoboth Beach, the New York Times reported, and his private home in Southern California.
RNC Research’s Vacation Claims
Recently, the RNC Research released a video of President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden in antics at the beach. On September 1, they tweeted that Biden had begun spending his 16th consecutive day on vacation and, in total, he has taken 532 days of vacation or roughly 40.3 percent of his presidency. Who, they asked, was running the country?
Comparison to Average American Workers
The report estimates that Biden’s vacation time equals what an average American worker would earn after 48 years. By comparison, an average worker gets 10 to 14 days annually of paid vacation, or about a year’s worth over the course of a typical 40-year career.
Biden’s Vacation History
Since taking office in January 2021, Biden has often taken weekend getaways to his homes in Delaware and gone on weeklong vacations wherever he pleases. A similar report released last year from RNC Research said that as of August 23, 2023, he had spent 382 days-or 40 percent-of his presidency away from the White House.
Comparisons with Previous Presidents
According to a report by The Washington Post, as of May 22, 2023, Biden had spent 256 of his first 853 days on vacation or at his Delaware homes. That same report pointed out that former President Donald Trump did also spend over 250 days away during his first 853 days in office.
Joe Biden Ends Re-Election Bid
Joe Biden pulled out of the presidential race in July of that year following a poor debate against Donald Trump, again bringing into question his suitability for office. The Democratic Party would go on to nominate Vice-President Kamala Harris to challenge Republican candidate Donald Trump in the November election.
