RCB & DPL Star Anuj Rawat Shares Game-Changing ‘Mental’ Advice From Virat Kohli

Anuj Rawat disclosed on Friday that Virat Kohli’s guidance on maintaining consistent preparation has been pivotal in his recent batting success in the Delhi Premier League. Rawat, who plays alongside Kohli at Royal Challengers Bangalore, has accumulated 328 runs in eight matches for the East Delhi Riders.

“I asked him something about the game. He told me, ‘no matter whatever the situation is in the game, just keep your preparations consistent. It helps you mentally’. This advice has certainly helped me so far,” Rawat told PTI Videos in an exclusive interview.’

In the first edition of the DPL, left-handed Anuj Rawat also set a record for the second-highest opening partnership in T20 cricket, amassing 241 runs with Sujal Singh for the Riders against Purani Dilli 6. Rawat played a significant role with a knock of 121 off 66 balls, featuring 11 sixes and 6 fours.

Rawat mentioned that as the domestic season approaches for Delhi, it will be up to the senior players to uphold a positive atmosphere in the dressing room.

“There is a lot of excitement and we have played together before as well. The senior players will help in maintaining a light environment in the team and that will help everyone to perform better,” he said.

The mega auction is also nearing for the next season of IPL and Rawat mentioned about he has worked on himself to overcome all the challenges.

“There are one or two games that just don’t go right for a player but after that, you start getting that rhythm the way I had in the initial part,” he said.

“I’ll definitely try to maintain the start that I get from next year and would want to win as many matches as I can for my team,” Rawat added.
