Supreme Court Reserves Order On Arvind Kejriwal’s Bail Plea

The Supreme Court has reserved its order on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s bail plea in the CBI corruption case erupted from the liquor excise policy case.

Earlier, the CBI had informed the Supreme Court that an arrest can be made without a warrant for proper investigation, particularly when there is a risk of evidence.

The Supreme Court will hear Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s requests for bail and his challenge against his arrest by the CBI today. Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan are expected to oversee the case. Kejriwal was arrested by the CBI on June 26 and sought relief from the Supreme Court after the Delhi High Court upheld his arrest on August 5.

In a new charge sheet, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has claimed that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) gained from illegal funds created by the defunct excise policy. The agency said Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was involved in the criminal scheme related to the policy from the beginning.
