The dynamic southpaw, Rinku Singh showcased his prowess with a match-winning performance for Meerut Mavericks against the Kanpur Superstars. Rinku Singh, a middle-order batter, played a pivotal role in the chase, partnering with wicketkeeper-batter Uvaish Ahmed to forge an unbeaten 100-run stand for the fifth wicket.
Thanks to their stellar partnership, Meerut Mavericks successfully chased down a target of 153, securing a six-wicket victory with 14 balls to spare.
Earlier in the match, Meerut Mavericks’ leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari made headlines with a brilliant five-wicket haul, conceding just 26 runs in his four-over spell. His exceptional performance dismantled the Kanpur Superstars’ middle order, including dismissing Shoaib Siddiqui for a single-digit score.
Despite Adarsh Singh’s aggressive innings and a solid start by Shaurya Singh, Ansari’s relentless bowling ensured that Kanpur Superstars could only post a total of 152/8. Notably, Ansari’s first wicket was that of Sameer Rizvi, who had scored a commendable 73 runs off 48 balls, featuring six fours and three sixes.
On the bowling front, Mohsin Khan set the tone by dismissing Akshay Dubey for a duck off just two balls. Swastik Chikara and Madhav Kaushik initially capitalized on the powerplay overs, but Rishabh Rajput’s double strike, including the dismissals of Chikara and Kaushik, and Aquib Khan’s removal of Rituraj Sharma, put Kanpur Superstars on the back foot.
In the run chase, Meerut Mavericks found themselves in a challenging position at 54/4 when Uvaish Ahmed and Rinku Singh entered the fray. Their steady partnership saw Meerut Mavericks glide towards victory.
Uvaish Ahmed contributed 48 runs from 34 balls, including three fours and two sixes, while Rinku Singh scored 48 runs from just 33 balls, with his innings featuring four fours and a six.
This remarkable performance by Rinku Singh and Uvaish Ahmed underscores the Meerut Mavericks’ impressive victory in the UP T20 League.
