Zaheer Khan is all prepped up to take up the mentorship role for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL. Before the appointment took place Zaheer Khan was associated with Mumbai Indians from 2018-2022. The formal unveiling will be taking place at the the RPSG Group Headquarters in Kolkata on Wednesday.

“Zaheer has been appointed as team mentor and the unveiling will happen later today,” sources told PTI.

Earlier, Gautam Gambhir was the mentor of LSG but he joined Kolkata Knight Riders. Hence, Zaheer will now be filling in his shoes.

Zaheer served as the director of cricket at Mumbai Indians first, but then became the head of global development. Lucknow Super Giants still do not have a bowling coach after Morne Morkel left.

Zaheer Khan is likely to be involved in scouting and player development programme in the off season.

In his IPL career, Zaheer has played for Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Daredevils. He appeared in 100 matches for these teams and claimed 102 wickets with an economy of 7.58.

His last IPL was in 2017, where he captained Delhi Daredevils.

Justin Langer will be seen as the head coach of Lucknow Super Giants.

KL Rahul Meets LSG owner

KL Rahul, known for his consistency and leadership skills, is considered a complete package in the cricketing world. His remarkable abilities have made him a coveted player in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Currently, Rahul is with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), a team he has represented for three seasons. During his initial years with LSG, he built a successful partnership with Gautam Gambhir, the current head coach of the Indian national team, leading the team to the playoffs in both seasons. However, the third season saw a dramatic downturn, with LSG finishing 7th in the league. The disappointing season and recent speculation linking Rahul with a move to the Royal Challengers Bangalore have sparked rumors about his potential departure from LSG.
