78th Independence Day 2024: ‘Viksit Bharat, UCC, Women’s Safety, 75000 Medical Seats’, Key Focus Of PM Modi’s Speech

 India is marking its 78th Independence Day with PM Modi’s speech. Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the national tricolor at the Red Fort in Delhi for the 11th time. Wearing a five-colored turban, he shared India’s vision for 2047 from the Red Fort, emphasizing his commitment to making India a “golden bird” by the 100th anniversary of independence. In his 103-minute speech, he addressed children, women, youth, the elderly, the military, and farmers, outlining his government’s goals for the next five years and calling for the cooperation of all citizens to build a developed India by 2047.

Here Are Key Highlights of PM Modi Speech

Concern over Crimes Against Women:

Prime Minister Modi expressed concern about rising crimes against women in his speech. He highlighted the growing involvement of women in various fields like innovation, technology, employment, the Air Force, Army, Navy, and space sectors. However, he voiced anger over crimes against women and emphasized that criminals should face strict punishment, even the death penalty, to instill fear and prevent such crimes.

Goal to Increase Medical Seats in 5 Years:

PM Modi announced plans to increase 75,000 seats in medical colleges over the next five years. He emphasized that this will help Indian youth pursue medical education within the country, reducing the need to study abroad. The government has already invested one lakh crore rupees in medical research, and nearly one lakh medical seats have been added in the last decade.

Dream of Hosting the 2036 Olympics:

PM Modi mentioned India’s ambition to host the 2036 Olympics. He noted the recent success of Indian athletes at the Paris 2024 Olympics and stated that the government is working towards achieving this goal by engaging with the Olympic Association.

Mention of Secular Civil Code:

PM Modi emphasized the need to reform the current communal civil code in India and introduce a secular civil code. He referred to the Supreme Court’s recommendation to consider the issue, aiming to eliminate religious discrimination in the country.

One Nation, One Election Initiative:

PM Modi reiterated the goal of implementing the “One Nation, One Election” initiative to streamline the election process, which is currently time-consuming and lengthy. A committee has already been formed, and its recommendations are under consideration.
