The Special Cell of Delhi Police has captured Rizwan Ali, a prominent terrorist linked to the ISIS module, just days before Independence Day. As per reports, Ali was apprehended on August 8, 2024, around 11 pm near Ganga Baksh Marg, Delhi. Authorities recovered a Star pistol with a .30 bore, three live cartridges, and two mobile phones from his possession. A case has been filed at PS Special Cell, Delhi.
Bounty And Background
Rizwan Ali, prominent terrorist and resident of Daryaganj in Delhi, had a ₹3 lakh bounty on his head, announced by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for his involvement in terror activities. He was affiliated with the ISIS Pune Module and had been on the run. His presence in Delhi prior to Independence Day is under investigation.
Increased Security Measures
The NIA had previously circulated Ali’s photograph along with other wanted terrorists linked to extremist groups. In response, Delhi Police have intensified security measures, posting images of wanted terrorists and urging the public to assist in capturing these individuals. Informants providing information will receive rewards, with their identities kept confidential.
State-Wide Operations
The posters released by NIA lists fifteen terrorists, six of whom are associated with Al-Qaeda. To bolster security ahead of Independence Day, Punjab Police have also ramped up their operations, conducting spot searches at bus stands across the state. This coordinated effort involved frisking individuals with the assistance of sniffer dogs in all 28 police districts.
