Elon Musk recently made a very startling statement wherein he claimed that his son Xavier was killed, in a manner of speaking, by the “woke mind virus.” In an interview Monday, Musk told Dr. Jordan Peterson that he had been duped into green-lighting gender-affirming medical treatments for his son, referring to the procedures as “child mutilation and sterilization.”
Musk shared how his experience with his child Xavier—now known as Vivian Jenna Wilson—enlightened him on the “woke mind virus,” which he and Peterson referred to as “evil.” Musk confessed in an interview with Dr. Jordan Peterson on the DailyWire that he was tricked into signing documents regarding Xavier amidst the COVID era when things were all confusing and he barely knew what was happening. He was told that if he did not follow all the procedures, Xavier might commit suicide.
Debate Over Gender Affirmation
The owner of social media platform X revealed that the procedures are conducted on children “who are far below the age of consent” and agreed with Peterson’s sentiment that anyone arguing for such practices should be imprisoned. “I was tricked into this. I mean, I lost my son. They call it ‘deadnaming’ for a reason. The reason they call it ‘deadnaming’ is because your son is dead,” he said.
June 2022, 18-year-old Vivian Musk came out as transgender. She filed a petition to change her name from Xavier to Vivian and to take her mother’s last name, and told Fox News she wanted nothing more to do with her biological father. Vivian’s mom is Justine Wilson, a Canadian author who divorced Musk in 2008.
The meaning of the term “woke mind virus” remains pretty unclear, but it is generally applied by its critics to refer to extremely progressive or “woke” kinds of practices that are, according to them, engendering negative results in society and the media. Earlier in 2021, Musk had also criticized the “woke mind virus,” calling it “arguably one of the biggest threats to modern civilization.”
Since Musk bought Twitter in 2022, he has vowed to return “free speech” to the site while ratcheting up his right-wing political commentary. He has focused on targeted attacks on gender-affirming care, a wide array of services aimed at helping transgender and non-binary individuals progress in their gender identity journey. “Woke practices,” as critics have come to describe them, amount to child abuse.
