Delhi Airport’s Terminal 3 Now To Have First 24-Hour Open Liquor Store

The Delhi government has granted a license to the Delhi Consumer’s Cooperative Wholesale Store Limited (DCCWS) to open a retail liquor store in the arrival section of Terminal-3 at the IGI airport.

The Delhi government stated that this is the first L-10 liquor store of its kind at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport to be established by a Delhi government agency under the current excise regime.

The new store will be open 24/7 and will offer a self-service, walk-in experience, enabling customers to freely select their preferred liquor brands.

A self-service store with a walk-in experience for customers spans approximately 750 square feet, allowing customers to pick up their desired brands on their own, according to an excise department official quoted.

Currently, only duty-free liquor stores are operational in the arrival and departure areas of Terminal-3 at Delhi airport, serving international travelers. There is no liquor store at any of the three terminals of Indira Gandhi International Airport for domestic travelers or the numerous staff working there, according to officials.

A comparative rate chart of different liquors sold in other parts of the country will be displayed on LED screens to assist customers. The store will accept various payment methods, including UPI, credit cards, and debit cards.

Officials also mentioned that the strategic location of the L-10 liquor store at Terminal-3 will not only serve a large unserved area around the Haryana-Delhi border but also help curb the illegal supply of non-duty paid liquor from neighboring states.
