Virat Kohli Spills Beans On Most Underrated Player of IPL, Greatest All-rounder, Favourite Opposition and More

Indian batting stalwart and the only player from his country to play for the same franchise in all 16 editions of the IPL, Virat Kohli is a modern-day great. Even though he might be considered a textbook cricket player, however, because of his aggressive playing style, he has been able to leave his mark across all formats not just at the highest level for India but also in the IPL playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Kohli is the highest run-scorer in IPL history (6844) and is closing in on the 7,000-run mark.
Now on the 15th anniversary of the cash-rich league, Kohli sat down with Jio Cinema, the digital broadcaster of IPL 2023 to spill beans on the best and his favourites in the IPL. While there were a few expected responses, there were a couple of interesting choices and some surprising ones too. The rapid fire began with who is the G.O.A.T. of the IPL and according to Kohli it was AB de Villiers and former Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga.
Next up, Kohli reckoned that he enjoyed batting more with de Villiers rather than Chris Gayle. According to Kohli, former Mumbai Indians and current Chennai Super Kings batter Ambati Rayudu is the most underrated batter of IPL history, The 34-year-old had to think a bit on the question of greatest all-rounder, but he finally zeroed down on his former RCB teammate and the IPL legend Shane Watson.
Among others, Kohli said that his favourite shot in T20s is the pull shot and not cover drive while when he was asked about his favourite opposition to play against he said, “Chennai because of a huge fanbase. It’s entertaining.”
Kohli and a few RCB players interacted with Jio Cinema as part of their Go Green initiative. RCB will be sporting green jersey on Sunday, April 23 against the Rajasthan Royals in their fifth home game of the season.
