While Siddharth Anand’s directorial film Pathaan might be the first blockbuster Bollywood film of 2023, no one can forget the massive amount of backlash the Shah Rukh Khan starrer received prior to its release. Talking about the boycott trend, the film’s director revealed that he wasn’t scared before the movie hit big screens.
Siddharth Anand’s on Pathaan boycott trend
Opening up about the boycott Pathaan trend, the spy action film’s director admitted that neither he nor the team were concerned. Calling the boycott calls ‘white noise’, Siddharth said, “We were not scared. We knew that there was nothing objectionable in our film.”
Furthermore, the filmmaker revealed that Deepika’s controversial saffron bikini had been selected at random for Besharam Rang. “When we were in Spain, I chose that costume randomly. We never gave it too much thought. The colour was looking nice. It was sunny, the grass was greener and the water was blue and the orange colour was looking good. We thought when the audience would watch it they would understand that our intent was not wrong,” he shared.
For the unversed, Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback film Pathaan started facing massive backlash a month before its release due to its song Besharam Rang. From being dubbed as ‘vulgar’ to allegedly ‘hurting religious and patriotic sentiments,’ many including home minister of Madhya Pradesh Narottam Mishra, Mahant of Ayodhya’s Hanuman Garhi Raju Das and more threatened to boycott the movie.
