Two suspected cases of H3N2 virus detected in Indore

Two suspected cases of the H3N2 virus were reported from Madhya Pradesh’s Indore. The samples have been sent to the Gandhi Medical College in Bhopal for testing.
“Two suspects of H3N2 belonging to category C are sampled for it. These samples are sent to GMC, Bhopal for testing, ” said District epidemiologist Dr Anshul Mishra.
“Of those two one is hospitalised in a private hospital but is stable, ” she added.
Notably, a case of H3N2 influenza was detected in Bhopal a week ago.
Notably, different parts of the country including Delhi, Maharashtra, Kerala and some other states have witnessed a sharp rise in Covid and H3N2 influenza cases.
The Centre on Saturday issued a fresh advisory to states and Union Territories on maintaining optimum testing for COVID-19 amidst a spike in the number of cases. The advisory issued by the ICMR DG Dr Rajiv Bahl and Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan noted that a gradual but ‘sustained increase’ in the trajectory of COVID-19 cases in the country is being witnessed since mid-February.
The government has also planned to hold a nationwide mock drill on April 10 and 11 to check the COVID readiness of all hospitals across the country.
As of date, most of the active COVID-19 cases in the country are largely being reported by a few states like Kerala (26.4%), Maharashtra (21.7%), Gujarat (13.9%), Karnataka (8.6%) and Tamil Nadu (6.3%).The Centre advised states and UTs to keep a close watch on the evolving etiologies (causes of diseases) of influenza-like illness and severe acute respiratory illness.
