Rani Mukerji’s FIRST costar Prosenjit Chatterjee wishes actress on birthday. Know ALL about her debut film

Rani Mukerji, who is basking in the success of her latest film Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway celebrates her birthday today, March 21. A veteran in the entertainment industry, not many know that the versatile actress actually started her career in Bengali cinema. For most moviegoers Rani Mukerji’s debut film was that of a rape victim in the 1996 Bollywood social drama Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat. However, in reality it was Ram Mukherjee’s Bengali film Biyer Phool.

Bengali film industry superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee took to social media to wish the actress on her birthday. Sharing a pic with Rani Mukerji from the sets of Biyer Phool, Prosenjit wrote, “Many many happy returns of the day #RaniMukerji! Keep shining bright! God bless.”

About Biyer Phool
Biyer Phool is a 1996 Bengali romantic drama that was directed by Rani Mukerji’s father Ram Mukerji. The film also stars Prosenjit Chatterjee, Sabyasachi Chakraborty and Indrani Haldar in pivotal roles. Incidentally, Biyer Phool was shot in Gangtok and was coordinated with the filming of Raja Ki Aayegi Baarat, which was simultaneously shooting in the area and was a Ram Mukherjee production as well.
The plot of the movie is loosely based on the Telugu blockbuster of the same year, Pelli Sandadi but was heavily modified to suit the Bengali audience.
Incidentally, Rani Mukerji has not done any other Bengali film.
Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway box office
Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway raked in Rs 58 lakh at natoinal chains at the end of week 1. The film earned Rs 26 lakh in PVR, Rs 21 lakh in INOX and Rs 11 lakh at Cinepolis. Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway which released on March 17 seems to be piqued the interest of the audience in Norway setting new records there. Since the film largely revolves around the legal system of the country, the audience there ahve been inquisitive to know more of the conflict in the film.
This in turn has led to become the highest opening ever for a Hindi film in Norway as per boxofficeindia.com. Earlier the record was in fact held by a Shah Rukh Khan starrer film Raees. It was then overtaken by Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan. However, now, Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway has broken these records as well as the record of Pathaan in Norway. The film collected $600K in the global box office as of now.
