Swwapnil Joshi: The pandemic has taught us to value our families more

The last time Swwapnil Joshi spoke to us was in the midst of the nationwide lockdown. He had told us then how this was the longest time that he had been home and that he was making the most of it. Cut to a few months later and today, the actor is back to work on multiple projects. He started off by dubbing for the upcoming horror film ‘Bali’ and even started shooting for the web-series ‘Samantar 2‘. Now, he’s taking over a new role on the popular show ‘Chala Hawa Yeu Dya‘ and it’s something he’s excited about.
The ‘Ranangan’ actor also tells us how things have changed, work-wise, in the new normal. “It’s a completely new feeling shooting in the new normal. The conversations have changed, there’s very less time spent with co-stars, and even meeting fans has become difficult. Sometimes it also leads to a wrong impression when we refuse selfies, or ask them to maintain physical distance. But that’s the need of the hour for everyone’s safety,” he says.

Not long ago, Swwapnil did an interesting initiative on Twitter where he provided his reach to fans who owned small businesses and helped promote them. Ask him what prompted him to do so and he says, “The pandemic and lockdown added to the negativity among people and that was reflecting on social media. So, I thought, instead of sitting and cursing how it’s affecting us, why not do something positive. It was a small gesture from me to help whoever I could. In the future, I plan to do something bigger on these lines,” he says.

While the actor is celebrating the extended Diwali festivities with family, he observes that this year the whole aura and idea of the festival has undergone a makeover. He shares, “People have understood what family means. Earlier, we’d all be chasing work and success so much that those back home got neglected. That has changed now and added to the feel of the festival. Another important change is how people have started prioritising health over other things. Diwali messages would earlier start with ‘happy’, ‘prosperous’ and end with ‘healthy’ earlier. Now, they start with ‘healthy’.”
