The 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League is set to start in less than three weeks. This year’s IPL will be extra special for more than one reason. After a four-year gap, the cash-rich league will return to its original home-and-away format. In addition to that, the introduction of the impact player rule is likely to be a game changer. The four-time champion Chennai Super Kings have begun their preparations for the IPL 2023 by holding a team camp at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The likes of skipper MS Dhoni, Ajinkya Rahane, Ruturaj Gaikwad among others have joined the trainings sessions at the iconic venue.
One of the star attractions of CSK’s practice sessions has been the team’s captain and star wicketkeeper-batsman, Dhoni. The 41-year-old was among the first to arrive for the camp and is seen spending long hours in the nets to get ready for IPL 2023. In the last three years, Dhoni has failed to fire with the bat, but in what is expected to be his last IPL, one can expect to see the vintage Dhoni once again.
And based on how he’s batting at the nets, there’s no doubt that he’s in for a big show this year. After several videos of him playing big shots with ease went viral on social media platforms in the last few days, a new clip of him hitting the maximums is now catching fans’ attention. In the short clip that was posted by CSK’s Twitter handle on Tuesday (March 14) evening, Dhoni can be seen hitting a no-look six.
Dhoni, who has won four titles as CSK skipper, would like to end his IPL career by helping Chennai Super Kings win the popular trophy for the fifth time. The Chennai-based side will open its campaign this year on March 31 against the defending champion Gujarat Titans at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
