It is a huge day for Indian cinema as the country has scripted history at the Oscars 2023. The Elephant Whisperers won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Short and RRR‘s hit song Naatu Naatu won in the Best Original Song category, marking one of Indian cinema’s greatest triumphs on a global scale.
Fans from all over the world are expressing their happiness and congratulating both films and their teams. But, the prestigious award show saw a controversy stirred by the host, Jimmy Kimmel as he called RRR, a Bollywood film. Some section of Telugu fans who are currently celebrating the win are also upset with the host for his monologue.
During the Oscars, Jimmy was dispelled by the dancers who performed RRR’s song Naatu Naatu on stage as he announced the first award category. He later called the SS Rajamouli, Ram Charan, and Jr. NTR film a ‘Bollywood movie’. The statement made by the host attracted a lot of reactions and Telugu cinema fans are furious for tagging RRR as a Bollywood film when it is a Telugu-language Indian movie.
Some of the fans took to social media platforms and called our Jimmy Kimmel. One of the users wrote, “RRR is South Indian cinema, a Telugu film, Tollywood. Not Bollywood, as some Oscar ppl might be saying!”

Talking about RRR, the film features NTR Jr., Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt and Shriya Saran and tells the fictional story of two real-life Indian revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem and their fight against the British Raj.
