Parliament Budget Session 2023: Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha nod for 35 pending bills top the agenda of Modi govt; Oppn to corner Centre over inflation, unemployment, CBI-ED raids

The second leg of the Parliament Budget session began  i.e. on March 13, Monday. The session which will conclude on April 6 will focus mainly on demand for grants and passage of the Union Budget.
The Prime Minister-led government is aiming to pass pending bills in the house. About 26 Bills are currently pending in the Rajya Sabha and close to 9 in the Lok Sabha for passage, as per the records.
Bills pending in Parliament
1) The Multi-State Co-operative Societies (Amendment) Bill, 2022
2) The Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2022
3) The Biological Diversity (Amendment) Bill, 2021
4) Government may bring the keenly awaited Personal Data Protection Bill, according to PTI report
5) The Inter-State River Water Disputes (Amendment) Bill, 2019
6) The Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Third Amendment) Bill, 2022
7) The Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Fifth Amendment) Bill, 2022
Opposition protests against govt
Shortly after Parliament reconvened the second leg of the Budget Session, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned after the protesting Opposition leaders rushed to the Well of the House leading to a ruckus.
Earlier, Leaders of 16 opposition parties met in Parliament House to evolve a joint strategy to corner the government on several issues ahead of the start of the second part of the Budget session.
The opposition leaders met in the chamber of Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge and decided to raise the issues of alleged misuse of investigative agencies and the Adani matter.
Among the parties that attended the meeting include the Congress, DMK, JDU, AAP, CPI (M), CPI, Kerala Congress, RLD, NCP, National Conference, IUML, SS (Uddhav), MDMK, RSP, RJD and JMM.
