KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants launch new jersey for IPL 2023; made radical changes from 2022 kit

With just about three weeks left until the 2023 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) starts, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have made a major announcement and launched a brand new kit for the 16th season of the cash-rich league. LSG made their IPL debut in 2022, having been introduced as one of the two new franchises alongside Gujarat Titans (GG).
LSG have completely changed the colour of their kit and will be seen playing the 2023 season of the league in almost a brand new avatar. While the KL Rahul-led franchise wore a greenish-blue colour in 2022, they have gone to a dark blue shade this time around.
Rahul and Co. had an impressive debut season in the league as they reached the playoffs. They were one of the dominant sides in the league stage of the competition, with their all-round balance making them a tough team to play against. They narrowly missed out on a top two spot and finished third in the table. The Lucknow-based franchise was beaten by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in a high scoring eliminator clash at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens.
LSG became the newest participant in the IPL fold after the Sanjeev Goenka-owned RPSG group put in a whopping Rs. 7,090 bid for them and acquired the franchise in October 2021. At the moment, they are the most expensive franchise in the league. Alongside the Super Giants, the Gujarat Giants were purchased by the CVC Capitals group for Rs 5,625 crore.
LSG had made KL Rahul the joint-richest player in the league’s history at the time by purchasing him for Rs. 17 crore outside the auction pool. They also purchased Marcus Stoinis and Ravi Bishnoi in the pre-auction draft. Ahead of the 2023 season, they spent a whopping Rs. 16 crore on Nicolas Pooran in the auction.
