Women’s Premier League: All you need to know about the inaugural edition of WPL 2023

Women’s Premier League’s (WPL) inaugural season will begin on Saturday, 4th March 2023. Five teams will be taking part in the Women’s Premier League and the games will be taking place from March 4 to March 26. All the matches of the WPL 2023 will only be taking place at DY Patil Sports Academy and Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The team placed at the first position on the WPL 2023 points table will directly qualify for the final, while the second and third teams will have to play the Eliminator match on March 24.
The Women’s Premier League will be played in double round format with one knockout stage game followed by the Final match which will be played on March 26. Every WPL 2023 team can have a maximum of six foreign players and must have a squad of 18 players maximum. The first auction of the WPL 2023 took place on 13th February in Mumbai. Many foreign players like Meg Lanning, Ellyse Perry, Amelia Kerr, and others are taking part in the first season of the WPL. The five teams in the WPL 2023 are, Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, UP Warriorz, and Gujarat Giants.
