Nagaland elections 2023: Congress slams NDPP, NPF and BJP, makes a string of pre-poll promises

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge  slammed the parties that have ruled Nagaland over the past 2o years and made a string of pre-poll promises in the northeastern state.
Nagaland goes to the polls for its 60-member Assembly on February 27 and the counting of votes is scheduled on March 2.
While addressing a gathering in the poll-bound state, Kharge said, “For the last 20 years NDPP, NPF & BJP looted Nagaland. It’s high time that the people get justice and a govt that works for the people. Congress party promises several measures for the eastern Nagaland region.”
He then said, “Congress, if voted to power guarantee old age pension of Rs 3000 per month, 33% reservation for women in urban local bodies, payment of 100% wages under MNREGA to job card holders, loans for higher education at 0% interest, clean drinking water and sanitation.”
Ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, security has been beefed up in Nagaland. Terrains in Nagaland are very difficult to commute even for short distances. Police personnel are putting a lot of effort in controlling law and order.
Nagaland Police have urged the citizens to inform the police if they get any untoward information on anyone trying to indulge or plan to create violence.
The police have tightened the checking of vehicular movements and patrolling has been intensified in the districts.
