Addressing the ET Global Business Summit 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India is no more seen among the “fragile five” economies of the world and it has now become “anti-fragile”.
The PM said the country has shown the world true meaning of anti-fragile, adding that the world has changed in the last three years due to the pandemic and so has India.
India, Modi said, has laid the foundation for the third decade and empowerment is at the core of government’s policies.
The government has reimagined governance, he said. “The poorest in the country now have access to bank accounts, internet and every possible necessity. Our focus is on empowering the poor, so that they can uplift themselves and contribute to the country.”
By making DBT a priority and reimaging the infrastructure, the Centre has been able to ensure that all the money the government sends to the poorest in the country reaches them.
India has shown the world how to turn a challenge into an opportunity, the PM stressed, adding “the strength and resolve we showed during the pandemic will be a matter of pride, even a century later.”
Recalling the situation three years back, the PM said, “We’ve been through a lot in the past three years, the whole world has taken a massive journey from 2020 to today; masks were not normal back then. Five days after the 2020 edition of the ET GBS, the WHO declared COVID-19 a pandemic.”
