Prithvi Shaw attacked after cricketer denies taking selfies with fans; case registered in Mumbai

Cricket is the most-followed sport in India and the cricketers enjoy a special status in the country. The fans follow cricketers wherever they go and the people are keen to get clicked with them. But sometimes cricketers aren’t ready to devote their time to fans. One such incident happened in Mumbai on Thursday (February 16).
The fans’ keenness to take selfies with Prithvi Shaw turned into a clash in Mumbai. Prithvi Shaw obliged the fans and agreed to a selfie with them. The selfie-hungry fans wanted to get clicked with the cricketer once again. Shaw’s refusal for another click led to a clash and the fans attacked the cricketer’s friend’s car. A case has been registered in Mumbai following the altercation.
Even though he isn’t a regular member of Team India, Prithvi is one of the most-followed cricketers. He shot to the limelight back in 2013 and was hailed as the next Sachin Tendulkar of this generation. Shaw broke the Master Blaster’s record when he played a knock of 546 in a Harris Shield match in 2013.
In 2016, he made it to the India U-19 team and was named the captain of the side on the road to the 2018 U-19 World Cup. Before the World Cup, Shaw showed that he could be the next big thing in Indian cricket as he slammed centuries on his Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy debut.
At the World Cup, the Shaw-led India U-19 cricket team remained undefeated and went on to lift the trophy. Shaw made it to the Test squad for the England tour. He made a memorable debut against West Indies in October 2018 and slammed a century.
An injury before the start of the Australia tour and a failed dope test ban derailed his career and he has never been a regular member of the team since then. Shaw recently made his comeback for the home T20I series against New Zealand but remained on the bench.
