The second match of the ongoing four-match Test series between India and Australia will kick off in Delhi on February 17. After winning the first Test against the Baggy Greens inside three days in Nagpur, the Indian team has reached Delhi for the second match, which will start this Friday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. India haven’t lost a Test match in Delhi in the last 36 years, and after securing a morale-boosting win by an innings and 132 runs in the series opener, India would like to win the game in Delhi and go 2-0 up in the four-match Border-Gavaskar Test series.
The Indian team landed in Delhi on Tuesday, and on Wednesday (February 15), star batter Virat Kohli, who is a local Delhi lad, shared a selfie of him driving to the stadium in his car. The former Indian captain took to Instagram Stories to share the picture and wrote, “A long drive towards the stadium in delhi after ages. Such a nostalgic feeling.
India last played a Test match in Delhi in 2017, when they faced Sri Lanka from December 2–6. In that game, Virat, who was the captain of the side, scored 243 runs in the first innings, but the game ended in a draw.
Virat, whose last century in Test cricket came against Bangladesh during the historic Pink Ball Test in November 2019, would look to get back into scoring ways in Test matches at his home ground. Since the start of 2022, Virat has only managed to score one half-century in seven Test matches played.
In the first match of the ongoing Test series against the world’s Test team, Australia, Virat was only able to score 12 runs from 26 balls, and his fielding was also below average as he dropped a couple of crucial catches in the game.
