The Tata Group-controlled Indian carrier – Air India – has placed its single largest aircraft order of 470 jets across two major aircraft OEMs – Airbus and Boeing. Of the total 470 jets, 250 will be delivered by Airbus and 220 by Boeing.
This large order will not only help Air India replace its aging fleet but also cater to the rising air traffic in India. On average the age of Air India’s fleet is around 9-10 years. Indian air traffic is forecasted to expand at a 7% CAGR through 2041. This order will help Air India remain competitive, offer better services, and be cost-efficient.
