Indian Navy takes major step towards Atmanirbhar Bharat, carries out landing of LCA Tejas onboard INS Vikrant

 In a historical milestone towards “Aatma Nirbhar Bharat”, Indian Navy pilots  carried out the landing of LCA Tejas (Navy) onboard the aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant. Notably, INS, Vikrant is the first aircraft carrier built in India. LCA Tejas is also indigenously-built aircraft.
The Indian Navy, in a tweet, said, “Historical milestone achieved towards #AatmaNirbharBharat by #IndianNavy as Naval Pilots carry out landing of LCA(Navy) on @IN_R11Vikrant . Demonstrates #India’s capability to design, develop, construct & operate #IndigenousAircraftCarrier with indigenous Fighter Aircraft.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi commissioned the country’s first aircraft carrier at Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kochi in September last year. INS Vikrant is the largest ship ever built in India’s maritime history. The aircraft carrier is 262 meters long and 15-storey high. It has a flight deck comparable to two football fields with an angled sky jump. It is named ‘Vikrant’ as a tribute to India’s first aircraft carrier.
Meanwhile, LCA Tejas is designed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) in collaboration with Aircraft Research and Design Centre (ARDC) of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). It is is equipped with state-of-the-art features like glass cockpit, zero-zero ejection seat. LCA Tejas will also have inflight refueling probe and jam-proof AESA Radar.
The aircraft be at the centre stage of “India Pavilion” at Aero India 2023which will be held from February 13 to 17 at Yelahanka Air Force Station.
