The chief of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) DK Shiva Kumar met Kannada superstar Kiccha Sudeep at his residence.
While Kiccha Sudeep and DK’s aides maintained that it was a personal visit with no political motives, the meeting behind closed doors has kicked up a hornet’s nest in poll-bound Karnataka.
Earlier in January, it was reported that actor-turned-politician Divya Spandana was trying to rope in Kiccha Sudeep to the Congress fold. The Congress made the move with an eye on Sudeep’s fanbase as well as the backward communities, a local media report had claimed.
Karnataka is scheduled to go to the polling booths later this year. The incumbent BJP is facing a tough fight from the Congress and the JD(S).
