NIA arrests man who fired RPG at Punjab Police Intelligence HQ, finds link to Canada and Pakistan-based terrorists

The National Investigation Agency (NIA)  arrested Deepak Ranga, the main shooter in the Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) attack on Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters in Mohali in May 2022.
According to the agency, Deepak Ranga is a close associate of Canada-based gangster-turned-terrorist Lakhbir Singh Sandhu alias Landa and Pakistan-based gangster-turned-terrorist Harvinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda.
Apart from his involvement in the RPG attack, Ranga has been involved in a number of other violent terrorist and criminal offences, including violent killings.
He has been actively receiving terror funds and logistical support from Rinda and Landa, said the NIA.
Ranga, who had absconded after the incident, was tracked down to Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. He belongs to Surakpur village in Haryana’s Jhajjar.
Back in May, 2022, the Punjab Police had said the RPG was fired from the street and it shattered the glasses at the Police’s intelligence headquarters. The rocket-propelled grenade was fired at the third floor of the highly-guarded building in Mohali’s Sector 77 at 7:45 pm on May 9, following which an alert was sounded in Punjab.
