Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill took New Zealand bowlers to the cleaners in the third ODI at Indore as the duo added over 200 runs for the opening wicket. Sharma and Gill, who have been in good form since the start of 2023, reached centuries in the 26th over.
It was Sharma who reached century first, off 83 balls, as he worked New Zealand pacer Blair Tickner for a single down the leg side to complete his 30th ODI ton. Two balls later, Gill got an edge which went past the third man for a boundary to bring up his century off just 72 balls.
Sharma was dismissed off the first ball of the 27th over, where he was bowled by Michael Bracewell, not before he had added a record 212 runs for the opening wicket.
