Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi are all set to collaborate for the first time. The duo will be seen in the upcoming masala entertainer film Selfiee. Fans have been waiting to get glimpses of the movie ever since it was announced and they finally witnessed the duo’s magic through the official trailer today.
SELFIEE TRAILER OUT
The makers of Selfiee unveiled the upcoming movie’s trailer today (Sunday, January 22). The film, also featuring Diana Penty and Nushrratt Bharuccha in key roles, is about a “unique story of a superstar and his superfan.” Akshay plays the role of a film personality while Emraan is seen as his diehard fan.
The clip starts with Akshay’s action scenes. He is then seen talking about the projects in his kitty. Then enters Emraan’s character, a middle-class cop and a father who would do anything to fulfil his and his son’s dream of taking a picture with Vijay.
“Iss kahaani ka villain toh pata nahi par hero #Selfiee hai,” wrote Akshay alongside the trailer.
Selfie is helmed by Raj Mehta. The movie is a remake of the Malyalam-language film Driving License, which starred South stars Prithviraj and Suraj Venjaramoodu in the lead roles. The official Hindi adaption is bankrolled by Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar, Prithviraj Sukumaran and late Arun Bhatia among others. It is all set to release in the theatres on February 24, 2023.
Expectations are high from Selfiee as it is Akshay’s first release after an extremely disappointing 2022. The actor failed to impress the audience and his big-budget releases miserably tanked at the box office.
Will Selfiee mark his power-packed comeback as the bankable star? Only time will tell.
