Sobha City Occupancy Certificate Bengaluru News: BBMP withdraws OCs for 2000 flats – ‘Fake NOC’

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has withdrawn the Occupancy Certificate (OC) of around 2000 flats at Sobha City, an apartment complex, in Thanisandra Main Road for allegedly submitting a fake no objection Certificate (NOC) of the Fire Department to obtain building plans.
The BBMP action came after one of the flat owners at Sobha city, Srinivas Rao Talla approached the civic body for an inquiry into the matter.
In an official order on Sunday, BBMP withdrew the OC of Sobha City, a project developed and sold by Sobha Ltd in Thanisandra Main Road of Bengaluru. Two-bedroom flats at the apartment reportedly cost around Rs 90 lakh to Rs 1.30 crore, reported The Indian Express.
During its inquiry, the BBMP found that the builder had obtained the building plan approval and OC from the civic body by providing a fake NOC from the fire department.
The order stated the building plan approval was provided on June 4, 2013, while the OCs were provided on June 21, 2016, June 29, 2019, and January 24, 2020, have been cancelled, reported The Indian Express.
“In case of any false information, misrepresentation of facts, or pending court cases, the permission shall be deemed to be cancelled,” mentioned the building plan approval and OCs.
On the other hand, a representative of Sobha assured that the builder is compliant with the regulations and will be appropriate remedial steps in this regard.
“The matter will not affect any residents. Sobha is compliant with all regulations and will be taking appropriate remedial actions,” the representative said.
