Senior Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the demand for ‘Hindu Rashtra’ and stressed that no such thing exists in the Constitution of India.
While speaking to media in Ambala, Singh said, “They (BJP) have also started doing that, they talk about ‘Hindu Rashtra’ but it is not mentioned in the Constitution.”
“This means they do not trust the constitution, then why do they fight elections, why do they take oaths? These two-faced statements don’t look good,” he added.
The Congress leader then urged the saffron party to clarify whether they trust the Constitution of India and if they do not, then come forward with it.
Talking about the effect of Congress-led Bharat Jodo Yatra, Digvijaya Singh said the yatra is not just for the allies of Congress but it is leaving an impact on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as well.
“Did we ever expect Mohan Bhagwat to visit Masjid?” he asked.
Yesterday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi called RSS members the “21st century Kauravas” and alleged they never say “Har Har Mahadev” and “Jai Siya Ram” as they are against India’s values and “tapasya”.
Earlier today, Bharat Jodo Yatra resumed in Haryana’s Ambala amid dense fog and biting cold.
The yatra, which started from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu on September 7, will end at Srinagar on January 30, with Rahul hoisting the Tricolour there.
The march has so far covered Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and is presently in Haryana.
