Amit Jain, the co-founder CEO of CarDekho and InsuranceDekho.com, replaced entrepreneur Ashneer Grover on the panel of judges of the Shark Tank India Season 2. After a phenomenon run, the business reality TV show Shark Tank is back in a new avatar and some ‘new’ faces like Amit Jain.
Jain replaced Grover, who had a significant presence at the show in Season 1, having coined ‘Ye Sab Doglapan hai’, which he later converted into a tell-all book on the venture capital ecosystem in India.
Jaipur-based Jain, who turned 46 on November 12, 2022, is the new entrant on the show, which retained Anupam Mittal, founder and CEO of Shaadi.com – People Group; Aman Gupta, co-Founder and CMO of boAt; Namita Thapar, executive director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals; Vineeta Singh, co-founder and CEO of SUGAR Cosmetics; and Peyush Bansal, founder and CEO of Lenskart.com from the panel of Shark Tank Season 1.
Jain is an IIT Delhi alumnus, who first entered the world of entrepreneurship when he opened a software outsourcing company —GirnarSoft— with his brother in the garage of his house.
Jain earlier said the idea of building CarDehkho struck him, when he, along with his brother visited the Auto Expo show in New Delhi in 2008.
The new Shark Tank India judge said he wanted to build a platform to enhance the experience of buying and selling cars with the help of technology. The duo founded CarDekho in 2008, and the company turned profitable in 7 years. CarDekho is a unicorn with a valuation of USD 1.2 billion.

Speaking about his experience while shooting for Shark Tank, Jain told Amit Bachchan during an episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati that the risk taking ability of India middle class has increased manifold, and even young kids featured among contestants oft the second season of the show.
The second season will premier from January 2, 2023 on Sony Entertainment Television.
