The Bihar unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) suspended its vice-president and former MLA Rajeev Ranjan on Friday for “anti-party activities” for six years.
In a letter shared by state unit chief Sanjay Jaiswal on Friday, Sanjay Jaiswal said despite being in a responsible post of the party, Rajeev Ranjan has been continuously giving statements contrary to the party lines ignoring warnings given orally.
“Being the party’s state vice president, your statements against the party lines have been adversely affecting the party’s reputation. You are hereby relieved of your post and suspended from the party for six years”, added Jaiswal.
On the other hand, Ranjan claimed that he has resigned from the party citing its local unit was not following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision. The development comes when speculations regarding him joining the ruling Janata Dal (United) or JD(U) are rife.
Ranjan wrote a letter Jaiswal and regretted the BJP in Bihar has completely deviated from Modi’s policies and ideals. “The Prime Minister’s talk of Sabka Saath-Sabka Vikas [inclusive development] has been limited to lip service,” said Ranjan, who also held the post of BJP’s media in charge in Bihar, as reported by Hindustan Times.
Ranjan further stated that elements against Dalits and backward classes have become dominant in the BJP and that they have been enjoying power for decades.
“Apart from a few of their favourite leaders, backward/extremely backward and Dalit community leaders have been limited to only carrying the party’s flag, which is sheer neglect of the Prime Minister’s policies,” added Ranjan as reported by HT.
