David Warner is having the time of his life in the second Test against South Africa at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, which happens to be his 100th Test Match. In this game, Warner has managed to achieve an elusive feat, that only one other batsman before him has managed to achieve.
David Warner smashed the South Afrian bowlers on all parts of the park to reach his third double hundred in the longest format of the game. He smashed 200 from 254 balls, in an innings studded with 16 fours and 2 sixes. He becomes only the second batsman in history to score a double hundred in his 100th Test Match after former England skipper Joe Root achieved this feat.
Warner was coming on to this Test Match under a lot of scrutiny ad criticism as people questioned his place in the lineup in the longest format of the game. He also was suffering from a rough patch of form in Test Cricket, having scored only one half-century in 2022, against Pakistan. However, he answered all his critics, with a thumping 200.
In fact, when David Warner reached his century, he was in tears as emotions got the better of him. In fact, he became the second Australian after Ricky Ponting to achieve the three figure mark in his landmark 100th Test Match. He also became the 10th batsman overall to achieve this feat.
Warner endured the scorching Melbourne heat, as he suffered cramps while batting, but continued to play in his inimitable style. However, after reaching his double hundred, Warner had to be carried back to the dressinf room as the cramps git the better of him and he was retired hurt. This means that he will remain not out on 200 in his 100th Test Match.
