‘There is no Covid anywhere’: Mallikarjun Kharge’s shocking remark amid global surge in cases

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, , made shocking remarks on the pandemic and said that “there is no Covid anywhere”. He also claimed that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trying to create fear, adding that the saffron party is in fear due to the Bharat Jodo Yatra and is taking the excuse of Covid to stop it.
“BJP is in fear due to Bharat Jodo Yatra and is taking excuse of Covid. There is no Covid anywhere. Nothing happened to anyone. PM Modi himself doesn’t wear a mask. All this is being done to create fear among people and break this Yatra,” he said.

Rahul Gandhi: COVID excuse to stop Bharat Jodo Yatra

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, who has been spearheading the Bharat Jodo Yatra, earlier echoed the same sentiments after Union Health Minister wrote a letter urging him to follow Covid appropriate behaviour or stop the foot march in view of the global surge in infections.
He said that BJP is making excuses to stop the foot march. Rahul Gandhi said the ruling party had become wary of the growing power of his pan-India foot march and is using ‘excuses’ like the Covid-19 warning to stop him
“..It’s their (BJP) new idea, they wrote a letter to me saying COVID is coming & stop the Yatra. All these are excuses to stop this Yatra, they are scared of India’s truth”, Rahul Gandhi said.
“The Bharat Jodo Yatra has been going on for more than 100 days and in this people from all faiths, including Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians, men, women, and children have taken part. But no one even asked anyone what their religion was, what language they spoke or from which place they came from. In this yatra, for 24 hours, people respected each other and hugged each other and spread love,” he added.
Last week, Mansukh Mandaviya wrote to Rahul Gandhi and Ashok Gehlot and urged them to either ensure Covid protocols are followed or cancel the march. As the letter promptly snowballed into a major political row, the Health Minister issued a clarification saying that it was not political at all.
“It’s not political at all. I am the health minister and have to take care of this. I have always followed up the progress of requirement to follow Covid-19 rules”, the minister said.
