Harry Brooks seems to be living the dream life where whatever he touches turns to gold. After being a vital member of England’s T20 World Cup squad and having an incredible Test series in Pakistan where he scored three centuries in as many games, Brook was the big winner of the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction.
The 23-year-old recieved a massive Rs 13 crore winning bid from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to play in the 16th edition of the world’s richest cricket league. This will be the first time in his career that the English batter will play in the world’s richest cricket league.
Brook gave an emotional reaction to his auction and revealed his family’s reaction when they found out his dream day at the auction. Brook revealed he was having breakfast with his family while the bidding war was going on in Kochi.
“I don’t how to react, I’m lost my words now. I have dinner with my mom and grandmother and they are crying when SRH picked me in IPL auction,” Brook said in a video shared by Jio Cinema.
Brook was part of a blockbuster start to the day by the 2016 champions as they made two big purchases in the set 1 itself which included marquee batters. SRH purchased the ex-Punjab Kings (PBKS) skipper for Rs. 8.25 crore.
SRH have bought a total of 9 players so far as after Brook and Agarwal, they also secured the services of Harry Brook (INR 13.25 crore), Mayank Agarwal (INR 8.25 crore), Heinrich Klaasen (INR 5.25 crore), Adil Rashid (INR 2 crore), Mayank Markande (INR 50 lakh), Vivrant Sharma (INR 2.6 crore), Samarth Vyas (INR 20 lakh), Sanvir Singh (INR 20 lakh), Upendra Yadav (INR 25 lakh).-
SRH had come into the auction with the highest purse (Rs. 42 crore) having released big money signings in Kane Williamson and Nicolas Pooran.
