Marathi actor Ketaki Chitale, who vehemently stirs row over her political remarks, is once again in news, this time over an indirect comment over Amruta Fadnavis’ comment on PM Narendra Modi. In a cryptic post directed indirectly at Amruta Fadnavis, who had recently referred to PM Narendra Modi as ‘rashtrapita’, Ketaki Chitale said that the debate over ‘old and new fathers in itself getting old’.
“This debate of old and new idols, old and new fathers is in itself getting so old!! Bharat is changing every single day and it’s high time that we change along with it. Accept the fact that 300+ years is effing ANCIENT, and so is 100+ years (sic),” Ketaki Chitale said.
Last week, Amruta Fadnavis, the wife of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that Modi ji is the ‘father of new India’. “Mahatma Gandhi is the Father of the Nation and Modi-ji is the Father of New India. There are two Fathers of the Nation — one from this era, one from that era,” she said in Marathi.
Ketaki Chitale had grabbed headlines when she had allegedly made derogatory remarks against Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar in May. She faces 22 FIRs in Maharashtra. She was arrested by police on May 20, but managed to get bail in June.
Amruta Fadnavis, who is often active on social media, had recently targetted Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray in a cryptic post -‘Ek ‘Tha’ kapati raaja (once there was a wicked king)’. Her quoted use of words ‘Tha’ was being seen as a reference to Thackeray. The post was, however, deleted.
