Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya said that COVID-19 is not over yet. He also urged everyone to get vaccinated as soon as possible. The Health Minister also stated that he has directed all concerned to be on the alert, and strengthen surveillance, news agency ANI reported.
Dr Mansukh Mandaviya chaired a meeting with health officials on Wednesday about the ongoing COVID-19 situation in the country. According to Government of India (GOI), “Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya reviewed the COVID-19 situation and preparedness of public health system for surveillance, containment and management in view of rising COVID-19 cases worldwide.”
GOI also informed that “States and Union Territories have been advised to send samples of all COVID-19 positive cases to INSACOG labs to facilitate tracking of new variants.”
Meanwhile, COVID-19 cases in China are rising day by day and deaths are increasing continuously. An influential epidemiologist in China has warned that until a peak in COVID-19 infections occurs in Beijing in a fortnight, deaths will continue to rise.
A respiratory specialist from Peking University First Hospital named Wang Guangfa warned the Chinese capital would soon experience extreme strain on its medical resources and that officials were rushing to prepare more intensive care units.
