BTS’ Jin recently enlisted for his mandatory military service. Prior to his entrance ceremony, both BTS’ label and the singer had requested ARMYs support him through words rather than showing up in person. Respecting the request, fans did not gather around the training center. However, there was another doubt in their minds: would it be possible to send Jin fan mail during his service? While fans debated about the topic online, the military authorities released a statement about the very same.
Can ARMY send fan mail to Jin while he’s in the military?
In case you weren’t aware, The Camp is a website that keeps families and loved ones updated on those serving in the Korean military. Not only does the website provide official photos and information about the enlistees, it is also a virtual mailbox where letters can be sent to them.
While an employee who works for The Camp made a public post dissuading ARMYs from sending letters to Jin with the reason that all recruits share the same internet server and a flood of fan letters to Jin may disrupt other trainees, military authorities issued a statement stating that the employee’s post was untrue and fans could send their letters to Jin.
The employee also clarified that he had no authority to release an official statement, acknowledging misunderstandings caused by his previous statements.
The Camp for celebrities
While many are still debating about sending fan mail to Jin, The Camp has revealed a solution. “The Camp is currently preparing to open a camp room exclusively for artists. We plan to provide a separate service for fans of BTS’s Jin and other celebrity soldiers who will enlist in the military in the future. The concept of a personal inbox will provide a better communication channel,” the stated.
As of now, ARMYs are sending their supportive messages to Jin through Weverse.
