After Opposition parties cornered the Central government over the fresh India-China clash in Arunachal Pradesh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah came down heavily on Congress and other parties in the Opposition. He alleged that Congress accepted money from China and assured that as long as BJP is in power, no one can capture even an inch of land.
Amit Shah said that Congress is politicising the issue and asked if the party did its research. He also questioned the grand old party over the money allegedly coming to it from China and said, “Why is Congress taking money from China?”
While talking about the India-China border isssue, the Union Home Minister asserted that “India has not ceded an inch in land” and assured that as long as the BJP is in power this will not happen.
“Today there is a BJP government in the country. As long as our govt is there no one can capture even an inch of land. I salute the valour shown by our Indian Army troops on the intervening night of December 8-9 (in Arunachal Pradesh),” Amit Shah said.
“I saw the question hour list and after seeing question number 5, I understood the anxiety (of Congress). The question was regarding the cancellation of the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) licence of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation (RGF),” he said.
“If they would have allowed I would have given an answer in Parliament that Rajiv Gandhi Foundation received grant of Rs 1.35 crores from the Chinese Embassy during 2005-2007, which was not appropriate as per FCRA. So as per the rules, Home Ministry cancelled its registration,” he added.
Lok Sabha was adjourned after Opposition created ruckus over the issue of India-China clash and sought a response from the Central government. Condemning the same, Amit Shah said, “Today in Lok Sabha Opposition did not allow Question Hour to run. I condemn this act. Parliamentary Affairs Minister clearly said that the Defence Minister will make a statement on this (Tawang faceoff) in the Parliament.”
Indian and Chinese troops clashed in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh on December 9, which led to injuries to a few personnel on both sides. In an official statement, Defence Minister Rajanath Singh said the Indian Army bravely defended against China’s aggression and added that none of the Indian soldiers was killed or sustained any serious injury in the clash.
