Even though star Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is out of action these days due to a knee injury that he suffered during the Asia Cup in September, he isn’t out of the news, and the reason for it is his wife, Rivaba Jadeja. The 32-year-old Rivaba, who married Jadeja in 2016, was a contestant in the recently concluded Gujarat Assembly elections. She ran on the Bharatiya Janata Party’s ticket from the Jamnagar North constituency and won the elections with over 57% of the vote share.
A day after his wife won the elections to become the first-time Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), the star all-rounder took to Twitter to post a picture with Rivaba to congratulate her on the big win.
He shared a picture of the couple with a caption written in Gujarati. “Hello MLA you truly deserve it. The people of Jamnagar have won. I thank all the people from the bottom of my heart. Request to Ashapura that the works of Jamnagar will be very good. Jay Mataji”
As far as Jadeja’s cricket career is concerned, he last played for India on August 31 against Hong Kong during the Asia Cup 2022 match. He got injured during the six-team tournament, which was hosted by the United Arab Emirates this year. Because of that freak injury, he missed out on a place in the series that followed and was also not considered for the T20 World Cup.
After being out of action for three months, Jadeja was initially selected in the Indian squad for the Bangladesh series, which is currently underway, but was later ruled out because of his inability to attain full fitness. The 34-year-old cricketer, who has played in 60 Tests, 171 ODIs, and 64 T20Is till date, is now expected to make his comeback to the Indian team during the white-ball series against Sri Lanka, which will start on January 3.
