BSF constable crosses into Pakistan, handed back to India during flag meet; second incident in two weeks

A Border Security Force (BSF) constable had inadvertently entered Pakistan territory from Abohar Sector in Punjab. The tropper was safely handed over back to India during a Commandant-level Flag Meeting with Pakistan Rangers on Thursday at 5.10 pm.
The trooper had crossed into Pakistani territory ‘during zero line Khura checking in AOR of BOP Mauzam Base, Sector Abohar of Punjab’.
“BSF constable, who had inadvertently entered Pak territory during zero line khura checking in AOR of BOP Mauzam base, sector Abohar, was safely handed back to the BSF during a Commandant-level Flag Meeting with Pakistan Rangers today at 1710 hrs,” a BSF official informed.
The constable had crossed over to the Pakistan on Wednesday morning between 6am and 7 am. This is said to be the second incident that took place in the Abohar sector in the recently.
A trooper had crossed into Pakistani territory while undertaking zero line checking along the International Border (IB) on December 1. The Pakistan Rangers handed the jawan back to Indian side the same day after a flag meeting.
The security forces on Indian side are on high alert after a series of drones have been shot down by BSF along Punjab border.
In the latest incident on December 5, a drone from Pakistan carrying contrabands through Roranwala Kalan of Amritsar, Punjab, was shot down by BSF personnel. The quadracopter was carrying heroin. After hearing the sound of the drone, the BSF troppers started firing and brought it down. The jawans also recovered suspected heroin from a field and seized it.
