Star Pakistani pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi is out of action these days. The left-arm pacer suffered a knee injury during the final match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup between Pakistan and England last month in Melbourne. He isn’t part of Pakistan’s Test team, which is currently engaged in a three-match battle with England. The hosts missed the presence of Shaheen in the first Test, where they suffered a defeat by 74 runs on the final day.
Apart from Shaheen, Pakistan is also without the services of Haris Rauf. The 29-year-old pacer made his Test debut for Pakistan during the first England Test, which took place in Rawalpindi, but suffered a thigh injury on the first day itself, because of which he was unable to bowl any further in the game.
Afridi and Rauf have been two of the best bowlers for Pakistan in international cricket at the moment, and the injuries to both of them at the same time are surely a big blow to the team’s chances of winning the historic home series against England.
Afridi and Rauf, who are doing their rehabilitation these days in order to get fit as early as possible, recently attended an event in which the 22-year-old Afridi was asked about his injury. Replying to the question about the reason behind his injury, the star pacer gave a hilarious response.
In a video that is going viral on the internet, he can be heard saying that he is not unfit and all what is going wrong is due to the evil eye.
“Hum unfit nahi huae hai, hume najar lag gayi hai (We did not get injured, it’s just evil).”
When asked about his potential return, the youngster stated that there is nothing to worry about and that both (Shaheen and Rauf) will be seen in action soon.
“Inshallah! Aisi koi baat nahi nahi hai. Hum dono bhot haldi ground m najar ayenge. Inshallah fully fit (But there’s nothing to be worried about, and by the will of almighty Allah, both of us will be seen in action fully fit)” he added.
