Congress to raise China border tensions, inflation during Winter Session of Parliament

In the next Winter Session of Parliament, the Congress will address three major issues: India-China border tensions, inflation, and interference in the functioning of the country’s constitutional and independent institutions, general secretary in charge communications, Congress, Jairam Ramesh said.
The session begins on December 7 – a day before the Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat elections – and concludes on December 29. During the session, the government intends to introduce 16 new Bills, one of which attempts to change the electoral procedure in cooperative societies.
Earlier  key Congress leaders including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress Leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Rajya Sabha Boss Whip Jairam Ramesh, and Lok Sabha Chief Whip K Suresh met at the residence of former party chief Sonia Gandhi to devise a strategy.
This will be the first session of Parliament since Kharge assumed the presidency of Congress.
“Congress is in favour of caste census, it’s necessary to get it done. There were talks on EWS reservation since 3 judges of SC agreed on the amendment and 2 have raised questions on it, the Congress will demand reconsideration and would like to have a debate in Parliament,” said Jairam Ramesh.
Congress is also anticipated to demand a formal guarantee for the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farm produce, as well as a 10% quota for economically disadvantaged groups (EWS). The party is also anticipated to challenge the administration about the recent cyberattack on AIIMS-Delhi, the country’s foremost medical institution.
The session will take place in the current Parliament building, rather than the new one, which was supposed to be completed by now. The session was also forced to be postponed by a month due to the Gujarat election timetable.
As of yet, the Congress has not chosen its Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition. Kharge, who is now the party’s national president, resigned from the position in accordance with the party’s one-person, one-post rule.
