The BJP appointed former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh and Sunil Jakhar as well as its former Uttar Pradesh president Swatantra Dev Singh as members of its national executive. The party also appointed former Congress spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill as its national spokesperson.
After his appointment, Jaiveer Shergill also thanked PM Modi.
“I express my heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP national president JP Nadda and Home Minister Amit Shah for appointing me as the national spokesperson of the world’s largest party,” Jaiveer Shergill tweeted.
Jaiveer Shergill is a lawyer by profession. He was one of the prominent faces among youth leaders in party. Shergill resigned from Congress on August 24 claiming that the decision-makers in the party are not in sync with the aspirations of the young leaders.
Madan Kaushik, Vishnu Deo Sai, its former presidents of Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh respectively, Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, Manoranjan Kalia and Amanjot Kaur Ramoowalia, all three from Punjab, have been made special invitees to the national executive, the party said in a statement.
Form Congeess leader Captain Amarinder Singh also thanked the party and PM Modi. “Grateful to PM @narendramodi Ji, HM @AmitShah Ji and @BJP4IndiaPresident @JPNadda Ji for reposing faith in me and appointing me as a member of the party’s National Executive committee,” Amarinder tweeted.
