The Indian team is gearing up to face England in the second semi-final of T20 World Cup 2022 in Adelaide. The Men in Blue arrived in South Australia on Monday, November 7 for the knockout game and began their preparations on Tuesday. However, it wasn’t a good news for the Indian team and its fans as there could be a potential injury scare for the Men in Blue and a pretty massive one at that.
Team India skipper Rohit Sharma was hit on his right forearm during the practice as he was immediately attended to by the physios. The news agency ANI shared the pictures where Rohit is seen sitting on the sidelines after being hit while facing throwdowns. Rohit had an ice-pack on and after a few minutes he returned to bat. However, the attempt was futile as he aborted the session after playing just one delivery and went back for some additional nursing.
The skipper returned after an hour or so and started playing his shots again in a very good sight for the fans and the team management as the second ice-pack seemed to have done its trick. The team will hope that the blow is not serious and that skipper is fully fit in two days’ time to lead the side.
Rohit may not have been in great form in the ongoing tournament, scoring just 89 runs in five matches including a half-century against the Netherlands, but the Men in Blue will require his solidity at the top facing the likes of Mark Wood and Chris Woakes as India can’t afford another injury setback.
Team India already endured a couple of major blows owing to injuries as all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja (knee) and speedster Jasprit Bumrah (back) were ruled out of the tournament.
However, the Men in Blue have been able to fill the gaps left by these two as they topped Group 2 with four wins and now will be up against a strong England side. India were knocked out of the Super 12 last year and this is the fourth time in eight edition of the T20 World Cup that they have qualified for the semi-finals. The last time India and England met in a T20 World Cup, was back in 2012, 10 years ago.
