Free electricity up to 300 units, 5 lakh jobs: What all Congress promised in manifesto for Himachal polls

The Congress  released its poll manifesto for the upcoming Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh, promising 300 units of free electricity and five lakh jobs for youth.
The party released its poll manifesto in the presence of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.
In its manifesto, the party has also promised to implement the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) and provide financial assistance of Rs 1,500 to every woman in the state if it is voted to power in the upcoming Assembly polls.
AICC in-charge for Himachal Rajeev Shukla, former PCC chief Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and AICC secretaries Tejinder Pal Bittu and Manish Chatrath were also present at the party’s poll manifesto release.
The party has promised Rs 10 crore ‘StartUp fund’, four English medium schools in each constituency.
Party’s poll manifesto committee chairman Dhani Ram Shandil said the BJP has failed to live up to the expectations of people and not fulfilled the promises made five years ago.
“This is not just a poll manifesto but a document prepared for the development and welfare of the people of Himachal Pradesh,” Shandil was quoted as saying by PTI.
The hill state will go to polls in a single phase on November 12 and the counting of votes will be done on December 8.
The term of the 68-member Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly is scheduled to end on January 8, 2023.
The Congress is seeking to wrest power from the BJP in the hill state, where the Congress and the saffron party have had alternate governments in the last many decades.
