This Friday (November 4), three women-led films were released in theatre – Janhvi Kapoor’s Mili, Katrina Kaif’s Phone Bhoot, and Sonakshi Sinha’s Double XL. All three films narrate different stories from different genres.
While, Phone Bhoot, also starring Siddhanth Chaturvedi and Ishaan Khattar, is a comedy horror, Janhvi’s Mili is a survival thriller. Double XL, also starring Huma Qureshi, is a film with a social message.
And now, they are clashing at the box office but, who will win this race? At a time, when Bollywood films are fighting hard to get audience approval, will Mili, Phone Bhoot, and Double XL manage to get footfalls inside the cinema halls?
According to Producer & Film Business Expert Girish Johar, all three films are expected to have a certain kind of occupancy.
Speaking with Times Now Digital, Girish opined, “We have a 3 way clash this time with Phone Bhoot, Mili, and Double XL and all of them are different films. Leading this, I feel will be Phone Bhoot, starring Katrina Kaif, an Excel Productions with Siddhant and Ishaan as to leads will have a better start. But somehow, I feel the other films have not been as aggressively promoted.”
He also stated that the producers and makers are not very “confident” about what is working at the box office.
He added, “Somewhere, the producers and the makers, including bigger films, are not very confident of what is working at the box office, but I do feel that the audiences do want something different and they do have a lot of traction at the box office. I hope these films do well, at a macro level, even if we have some occupancy for films across these genres, at a larger level, the audiences are coming back to the theatres, it should be a good sign.
Well, what will work at the box office and what will not – all will be out once the opening day collection is revealed!
