They need to win the game in order to strengthen their chances of qualifying for the semi-final of the mega tournament. India put on a big score of 184 with the bat in the first innings, and the man who was the star of the show was none other than Virat Kohli.
Virat Kohli continued his swashbuckling form in the T20 World Cup 2022, as he registered another half-century, his third of the tournament. In the final ball of the 19th over, Virat Kohli truly showed what a class player he is.
He had hit a four on the previous delivery off Hasan Mahmud, and followed it up with a beautiful six. In what was a length delivery, the ball was right in Virat Kohli’s slot, as the star batter leaned forward and cleared long on with a beautiful straight bat shot over the bowler’s head. He even held the pose as he hit the extraordinary shot.
Virat Kohli smashed 64 from 44 deliveries and remained not out for the third time in four innings at the T20 World Cup. His innings was studded with 7 fours and a six.
In the process, Virat Kohli also created history as he smashed the record of Mahela Jayawardene to become the highest run-getter in T20 World Cup history. Kohli now has 1065 runs in the tournament, surpassing the Sri Lankan great’s tally of 1016 runs.
He also scored his 12th 50 in the tournament, the most by any batsman, and also extended his record of having the most fifties by a batsman in T20Is as he smashed his 39th fifty in the format.
